Rhona was our first Golden Retriever, Paul bought her for me as a birthday present, we scoured the local newspaper and answered an advert. The lady had two litters the one we brought from and another by the great Sh Ch Styal Scott of Glengild. We knew nothing at the time and Paul chose Rhona.

I learnt so much about dogs and their husbandry from Rhona and in many ways we were far too disciplined with her. She was an intelligent and handsome dog. I also learnt another huge lesson from Rhona as although she passed all her health tests she was infertile and I can wholly support a very eminent geneticist who said at several forums that the worse problem you can have is infertility as that removes any choice.

Every cloud has a silver lining and although we were disappointed there was a positive outcome as we had learnt a lot about the breed and went on to order a new brood bitch from Mrs Hazel Hinks …… this restart proved to be the making of the Remington Kennel.
